Day +17 (part 1 of 2)
Will have to make this a quick one.
Praise God that Jeremy’s numbers continue on the upward trend. This is a great early sign of engraftment. The next few days will tell us more.
Praise God Jeremy continues to be fever free.
Since the last update, Jeremy has started to retain more fluid and he is still complaining about belly pain. His abdomen is distended and he’s gained weight. The doctors told us today about the possibility of VOD, a disease of the liver. There are three clinical signs of VOD: 1) weight gain, 2) distension of the abdomen, and 3) a rise in liver numbers. Jeremy is showing signs of 1 and 2. The labs drawn earlier this morning didn’t show any significant rise in his liver numbers, but these numbers will now be monitored daily. We are praying that Jeremy does not have VOD, as it is a serious complication.
The other possibility is that he’s retaining fluid because he’s gotten so much fluid since admission. He’s been given Lasix to help with the fluid retention, which he’s responded well to.
An ultrasound of his abdomen was taken early this morning and we are waiting for the results.
Please pray that God would continue to show His mercy to Jeremy in regards to the issues he is currently experiencing. Please pray that Jeremy will not be diagnosed with VOD and that the Lord would heal Jeremy of his belly pains and fluid retention. Please pray that the ultrasound would come back with favorable results.
Thanks everyone. We are so grateful to have an army of prayer warriors behind us.
