Praise God, there is a bone marrow drive happening very soon.

We discovered that there is a bone marrow drive taking place this coming Monday, August 20th in San Francisco.  Please, please consider registering and encouraging family, friends, coworkers, and friends of friends to go as well.  Feel free to use any social network (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to be creative and get the word out.  Please feel free to forward our blog or this post along as well.

Donors will need to be between the ages of 18-60 and be in good health.
All you need to do is complete a registration form with contact information, health information and a signed agreement to join the Be The Match Registry.  To help you complete the form, bring along:

  • Personal identification (such as a driver’s license or passport)
  • Contact information for two family members or friends who would know how to reach you in the future if your contact information changes.

You will also need to give either a swab of cheek cells or a blood sample to be tissue-typed.

It’s worth noting that race and ethnicity matter.  For Jeremy’s situation, a Chinese male in his 20’s is an ideal unrelated match.  But even if you’re not, you can still be a good match for Jeremy, or for others who may need a bone marrow transplant.

We are still interested in holding a registation drive through the AADP.  If any of you are still interested in coordinating this drive, please let us know.  Timing is critical and it would be ideal to start the drive as soon as possible.  We really appreciate all the help we can get.
